A brand I’ve been a fan of in terms of high fashion is Miu Miu. They’ve always given me the vibes of being what I call ‘Prada for weird girls’ vibes; an odd essence of hyper-femininity that I’ve always really enjoyed. With NYFW all done, I wanted to give my opinions on their recent collection.
Miu Miu seems to consistently push the boundaries of traditional femininity while embracing a playful and somewhat avant-garde aesthetic. Their latest collection was no exception. The pieces featured a vibrant palette mixed with unexpected textures that felt both nostalgic and refreshingly modern. I appreciate how Miu Miu balances fun with sophistication, making each design suitable for not just a runway but also everyday wear.
The layering of unconventional silhouettes was particularly striking, creating a sense of whimsy that perfectly captures the essence of femininity without being overly serious. I found the accessories—especially the shoes, aprons and bags—to be standout features, often taking center stage and adding an extra layer of character to the outfits.
Moreover, the incorporation of vintage-inspired elements alongside contemporary cuts highlights Miu Miu’s ability to blend eras seamlessly. Each look was not only a statement but also an invitation to express indiv xbxxu. x iduality, an essential quality for any high fashion brand.
As we reminisce about NYFW and reflect on the myriad of collections showcased, Miu Miu remains a beacon for those who appreciate fashion that is both quirky and chic. Constantly inspiring those of us who embrace the unconventional side of style.

miu miu’s description of the collection (per their website):
The importance of work. Its significance, its relevance and meaning. The Spring/Summer 2026 Miu Miu collection by Miuccia Prada is a consideration of the work of women – their challenges, adversity, experience. Its invisibility is confronted and addressed, recognized and valorized.
Work as an expression of effort. Work as a symbol of care and love. Work as a reflection of independence, a means of agency. The apron, as a universal symbol of work, is afforded a nobility and respect. A reflection on function and purpose, the apron can be simultaneously utilitarian and decorative. Cultural meanings of this garment can shift radically according to changes in materialization and form – from domiciliary to clinical to industrial, physical labor to care-giving, primary and tertiary industries and the domestic sphere. A single garment containing multitudes.
The show scenography transforms the hypostyle of the Palais d’Iéna – itself a place of work into an abstraction of everyday domestication. It is punctuated by field of Formica tables in contrasting shades.
The cast of Miu Miu Spring/Summer 2026 show includes:
Billy Barratt (Actor), Sateen Besson (Singer), Towa Bird (Musician), Daniel Blumberg (Musician and Composer), Michella Bredahl (Photographer), Anya Chalotra (Actor), Richard E. Grant (Actor), Rila Fukushima (Actor), Hailey Gates (Actor e Director), Florentina Holzinger (Choreographer and Artist), Sandra Hüller (Actor), Milla Jovovich (Actor), Suzanne Lindon (Actor), Cortisa Star (Musician), Celia Rowlson Hall (Coreographer and Director), Eva Yelmani (Actor), Phew (Singer and Sound artist).
My thoughts
First, let me say I have been happy to see Cortisa Star in this show, showcasing her unique talent and charisma on such a prominent platform, bringing freshness and relatibility to the runway. I am also thrilled about the exposure she has been getting as a model, allowing her to connect with a broader audience and inspire many aspiring young artists who look up to her as a role model. Now in regards to the collection itself, I do believe the mark was hit; the designers successfully channel a level of work wear and industrialism while staying true to the brand’s motive, striking that delicate balance between functionality and high fashion—an achievement that is no small feat in today’s fashion landscape. The apron clearly being a central symbol, representing the nod to women’s work and agency in the workplace, speaks volumes about the evolving narrative surrounding femininity and empowerment in contemporary society and encourages a dialogue about gender roles. I don’t know what it is about them, but those ruffled aprons were to die for, especially the ones in the jewel tones that add a touch of vibrant elegance and really pop against the backdrop of more traditional designs. Everything about this collection just reminded me of those super chic older women who possess this effortless sense of personal style that a Pinterest board has nothing on; their looks are aspirational yet attainable, encouraging women of all ages to express their individuality. Like that gorgeous older woman who has been going viral on TikTok wearing all Uma Wang, her confidence radiates and serves as a source of inspiration for many of us, making us believe in our own ability to curate a signature style. Ugh, I aspire to live long and dress well like them, embracing a style that highlights both individuality and sophistication while celebrating the beauty of aging gracefully in a world that often overlooks it. And that, my friends, is what I enjoyed most about this collection—the real-world reflection of femininity and utility that emphasizes not just fashion, but the narrative of resilience and strength embodied by women everywhere, proving that style can indeed be a powerful form of self-expression.
I think there’s a lot to be said about the consistent social media hate we see Miu Miu collections get on the same app where people have no problem giving you the item code to their Shein top. It’s fascinating how the appreciation for high fashion can be overshadowed by the allure of fast fashion, where quality often takes a backseat to affordability. Not to say there’s anything wrong with not liking a collection or brand, as you can see my feelings about Miss Shein, but it does strike me as odd that people fail to be imaginative with the way they perceive a runway show. Perhaps they view these artistic expressions through a more conventional lens, one that limits their understanding of fashion as a form of storytelling and innovation. Maybe that is just the mind of an artist asking for too much of day-to-day people who are now using ChatGPT to pick an aesthetic for them, rather than engaging with fashion as a dynamic and evolving discourse. In a world where opinions are often shaped by social media trends, it’s crucial for individuals to step back and explore fashion’s deeper meanings, allowing themselves to appreciate the creativity and labor that go into crafting collection after collection.
Pieces from the collection i’d love to wear:

Starting off hot with this cream skirt suit, I don’t wear white or cream a lot, but when I do, I like to wear it like a pop of color that brightens my look. To create a balanced outfit, I’d pair this suit with a black and white polka dot button-up underneath, as the playful pattern adds a fun twist to the elegance of the cream. To keep warm and stylish, I would opt for black opaque tights, which not only provide coverage but also enhance the chic factor of the ensemble. Completing the look, I’d choose a pair of chunky heels, maybe with a square toe for a modern touch or even a tabi style to add a hint of uniqueness to the overall aesthetic.

This leather apron is to die for!!!!! I would honestly lean into a vintage kind of rockabilly aesthetic for this one, adding to the vintage silhouette already working there. I’d pair this with a 50’s dress, in a dark quirky print with some patent leather Pleaser mules. To elevate the entire look even further, I might accessorize with bold cat-eye sunglasses and a unique statement belt that cinches the waist, highlighting the curves beautifully. Additionally, a vintage-inspired hairstyle, such as soft waves or a classic updo, would perfectly complement the outfit, bringing the whole ensemble together into a cohesive and striking appearance. The blend of textures from the leather apron and the whimsical fabric of the dress would create an eye-catching juxtaposition.

I honestly love everything about this particular look; it exudes a sense of elegance and confidence that is hard to match. The only thing I would change is that I would opt for tights, which not only add warmth but also enhance the overall aesthetic. A pair of modest heels would definitely elevate the outfit, giving it a sophisticated touch without compromising comfort. Additionally, I would pair a bold red lip to make a striking statement amongst the black ensemble, adding a pop of color that draws attention and showcases my personality. This small but impactful detail would beautifully tie the whole look together, making it not just stylish but also uniquely mine.

This black lace dress on the top would be so cute at the beach as a cover up or even layered for a festival look.

Another apron I need in my life; this one is very funky, with a lively design that catches the eye instantly. I love the mesh detailing and the striking mix of black with yellow, creating a bold statement. This design embodies a playful aesthetic that feels adventurous, and I can already envision the perfect occasion to wear it. I’d probably pair it while entertaining guests, channeling a vibe reminiscent of “your uncle’s fly girlfriend at the cookout.” To truly complement this apron, I imagine slipping into a sleek black wrap dress that flows effortlessly, with a bright pop of color from a pair of yellow mules or strappy heels that would really elevate my whole look. Accessories like a chunky bracelet and oversized sunglasses would complete this stylish ensemble.

This coat and these shoes. I’d personally wear them separately just because I’d want to feminize the pieces a bit more. Especially as a plus size woman, when wearing more boxy pieces I like to add a softer feel to them for some balance and to dress for my body type a bit more. By incorporating more fluid silhouettes and delicate accessories, I find that the overall look becomes more harmonious and flattering. For instance, pairing the coat with a fitted top underneath can create a lovely contrast, while the shoes could be matched with a flowy skirt or tailored trousers that accentuate my curves. Adding a statement necklace or a dainty scarf can also enhance the outfit, making it appear more thoughtfully put together and chic. Embracing these elements allows me to express my personal style confidently and feeling comfortable in my skin.

Yet another skirt suit I’m loving. I’d keep it seek and simple with this one and go for a preppy look. For winter maybe more equestrian with some boots and a v neck sweater. For spring or summer, pairing some softer elements like a silk blouse or camisole and open toed nautical heels.
I’m realizing my love for skirt suits in going through this journey of self-exploration and style discovery. This is what I mean when I talk about delving more into fashion and how it can uncover new elements to your personal style that you may not have recognized before. You don’t always have to consume to invest in your personal style; sometimes, the most meaningful insights come from introspection. Even doing inventory on what you like and don’t like can be profoundly transformative. It allows you to make space for the ways those preferences may have changed for you in recent months, weeks, or even years. Reflecting on past choices enables a clearer understanding of how to curate your wardrobe in a way that truly resonates with who you are today, helping you to express your individuality more authentically through thoughtfully chosen garments.

Well, I think I’ll get off my soap box now, this is what I thought of the Miu Miu collection and what I’d wear from it and why. The collection really spoke to me in terms of its daring designs and vibrant colors, which resonate with my personal style and enthusiasm for fashion as a form of self-expression. I found myself particularly drawn to several standout pieces that embody a perfect blend of modern elegance and playful charm, making them versatile for various occasions.
For instance, the whimsical patterns and unique silhouettes reflect a sense of creativity that I admire, allowing me to envision myself wearing these pieces at both casual gatherings and more formal events. Each item seems to tell a story, inviting the wearer to embrace their individuality and creativity through fashion. The overall aesthetic is refreshing and invigorating, creating a sense of excitement that I hope to bring into my wardrobe. Moreover, the attention to detail in each garment truly highlights the craftsmanship that goes into the collection, where luxurious fabrics meet innovative cuts, enhancing not just the look but also the feel of each piece. I appreciate how the collection encourages mixing and matching, offering endless possibilities to create outfits that are not only stylish but also deeply personal. There’s something incredibly empowering about wearing fashion that feels like an extension of oneself, and Miu Miu captures that essence beautifully, inspiring confidence and a bold approach to personal style.
