When everyone is watching you, it is hard to be perfect
My disdain for your flaws is the onlookers instigation
Making not than perfect being the expectation
Said you see the mother in me, through stone cold eyes
I hope you don’t see your mother in me just the same
I know I shouldn’t but the thought won’t leave my brain
Because I know the ol’ song and dance of boy meets girl
They fall in love
Girl is the bearer of his mother’s burden
Why do you have to punish that woman through me?
Make me pay the toll at walls you built to keep her out
So blinded by the battleground she see calls love
You’re paranoid
Convincing yourself I’m something to avoid
Fighting against something who’d never hurt you
